Linking contacts to companies is a basic feature of Act! CRM, making it easier to manage customer communication with multiple members in the same company. Or making sure, that you do not mix up customers with similar names – quite an embarrassment when you call a contact and start talking about a project or sales offer and you contacted the wrong company. It works the other way around when you communicate with multiple contacts in the same company. Collect them all in one list in order to find the right contact by simply selecting the company.
I have trouble linking contacts to companies
If you’re having problems linking a contact with a company, it’s because you don’t have the authorization for that process. Here is a short instruction on how to fix this problem:
The yellow marked button is the one for linking contact with a company. As you can see in the picture it’s greyed out.
If this contact has been created by another user you don’t have the permission to customize the contact. To link the contact of another user you need administrative rights.
As shown in the picture the user “test” only has standard rights.
You need to contact your database administrator. If you’re authorized to have more rights in your database, then he will assign them to you.
Now you’re able to link contacts and companies again.
